Witch Hazel is a common shrub throughout Eastern North America. It grows to 15 feet or more in full sun to part shade. They are best used for naturalizing, hedges and rain gardens. The yellow flowers are showy and fragrant. They are considered deer tolerant and suitable for heavy clay soils. It will spread by suckers if not managed. Flowers appear in the fall, the same time the previous year's seeds mature.
