New Jersey Tea, Ceanothus americanus, is a deciduous shrub that can grow 3 to 4 feet tall and wide, making it an ideal choice for thoughtful landscape design. Featuring showy, fragrant clusters of white flowers from May through July, it naturally attracts hummingbirds and butterflies, enhancing local biodiversity. Thriving in average, well-drained soils and adaptable to full sun or part shade. During the revolutionary war when tea was scarce, many used it as a local substitute though it doesn't have any caffeine.
