Pollinator at Work

These little native bees don't get much attention. Still, they carry pollen from flower to flower all day long. Many of them are more productive pollinators than honey bees. If you grow fruits and vegetables you want these around. They also assure that flowering plants like this Black-eyed Susan set seed. Some of the seed will fall to the ground and grow into new plants. The majority, however, will become food for something else, maybe fall migrating song birds on their way to their winter homes.
