Monarch Butterfly Conservation

Most people have learned about the decline of insect populations from news about threats to the Monarch Butterfly. Their long migration from eastern North America to Mexico is beset by many obstacles. In response many people and communities have established Monarch Way Stations, flower gardens that favor this iconic insect. Everyone with a few square feet to garden can help out. Milkweed is a favored plant but many others that are more decorative can help as well. Look to the Xerces Society for more information on Monarch Butterfly Conservation.
